The epidermis is a single layer or several layers of cells that cover the entire plant body.
The epidermis contains the following cells:

Stomatas are specialized structures at intervals in the plant's cuticle.  Each stomata is made up of two guard cells.

The cuticle in a plant is a layer of wax that prevents water loss.  It is produced by the epidermis.

Trichomes are fuzzy, wooly hair-like outgrowths on a plant's shoot.
They help with the retention of water and the protection of the plant.  Some trichomes even secrete poison.
