HHMI Middle School Science Teachers Workshop, Summer 2006

Inquiry-Based Labs in Earth and Space Science

Middle school teachers in Knox County gathered in August, 2006 to engage in inquiry-based activities in earth and space science. One the left, participants are presenting a graph of dependent vs. independent variables related to an exercise on circular motion. In the center, participants are discovering how water can aide melting in lava and magma. On the right, participants are using simple PVC pipes as sights to do rangefinding for distant objects.
