You are the public health director for a middle-income country. Discuss
a specific scientific study of a public health question important to your
country. Explain the implications for your public health practice.
Your essay should
address:
- The context of
the public health question in your country, which includes a mixture
of wealthy and impoverished communities.
- The structure of
the study: Prospective or retrospective? Do the data present correlation
or causation?
- The strong points
of the study: How it suggests reasonable steps your program might take.
- The limitations
of the study: Which points may have alternative interpretations, and
which points need further study. How cultural issues may affect study
and your country.
Your chosen paper
to analyze must be submitted for approval by October 8.
Examples of a suitable paper:
Ivermectin controls onchocerciasis in West Africa
Chocolate
decreases heart failure in Sweden
Reference at least
five professional documents related to your paper. See for example Global
Health Resources.
Your essay should include 1,200-1,400 words (text excluding references)
and at least two figures or tables, with appropriate references cited.
The essay must be
submitted as a Word attachment to an email, by midnight before Tuesday
Oct. 19. |
