Below are two recent news articles, one on Global Warming and one on Open Space. For your take-home exam, you should choose one (1) of them and write an essay in which you examine the premises and consequences of competing claims, identify the root causes of each problem, state your position, and justify that position. You will need to identify to what degree each of the following contibutes to disagreements:
We don't want a string of platitudes. You are to fully explain your understanding of the broad range of issues we have covered in this class. It is better to cover a few ideas with care and depth than to give me a string of simplistic statements. You are free to use any [non-classmate] resources at your disposal, including your readings for this course, web sources, or other issues. Be careful to cite any reference you quote and avoid any close paraphrasing. You are not to work in groups or consult with other students.
Your essay should be 4-5 pages, double-spaced and printed (not handwritten).
