Always Read the literature
   
January-September, 1998 Make observations, develop research questions.
  Perform preliminary studies?
   
September-December 1998 Prepare a grant
  Institutional Human Investigation Committee application and approval
  More preliminary work?
   
September, 1999 Grant is funded!
   
October, 1999 Construct and test the needed equipment.
  Final study design is completed.
   
November - December 1999 Subjects are recruited and screened (medical histories)
   
January - February 2000 Study is conducted
   
March 1, 2000 Data is analyzed - statistics.
   
April, 2000 Authors write a first draft of their manuscript
  Other scientists (collaborators) read and comment on the first draft
   
June, 2000 Authors present their work at a scientific meeting
  Authors present the work in a seminar at another institution
   
July 5, 2000 Paper submitted
  Reviewers read and comment
  Authors revise
  Reviewers read revised manuscript
April 6, 2001 Paper accepted
