Crossover and Recombination
of two Homologous Chromosomes

After ligation, part of each helix is "hybridized" from two DIFFERENT
helices.  This is a MOLECULAR hybrid, not a Mendelian hybrid.
(What is the difference??)
In a molecular hybrid, you can have mismatched base pairs!!
The mismatches will have to be corrected by repair enzymes.
