The premaxillary is the most anterior bone in the skull. Together with the nasal it forms the opening of the nasal cavity.

The three teeth associated with the premaxillary are the incisors.

Anterior end

The premaxillary wraps around to the ventral surface of the skull where it contributes to the hard palate.

The oval-shaped anterior palatine foramen is bounded to the posterior by the maxillary. It is a passage through which nerves and blood vessels pass.
