Yes, one hypothesis in this paper is "The
lower dietary energy intake in women compared to men is the explanation
for differences in carbohydrate loading." However, a second
hypothesis is "Differences between men and women in muscle
enzymes is the explanation for differences in carbohydrate loading."
Thus, this paper has two main hypotheses; they are alternative explanations
for the gender differences in carbohydrate loading.
The last four paragraphs of the introduction describe the hypotheses
that will be tested in the study, giving justification for each
hypthesis by citing the relevant literature. The last paragraph
of the introduction summarizes the hypotheses that are tested. Notice
that each is stated as a "purpose" or "objective".
In many papers, the last paragraph of the introduction is that place
where the hypothesis or hypotheses are stated.
