Suggestions to Consider:

  • Use a reference site to better understand the system's intricacies.
  • Use both degraded and undegraded reference sites for comparison in determination of project success.
  • Consider the use of "self-design."
  • Make the project's goals well defined. Furthermore, define what constitutes project success.
  • In-kind or out-of-kind restoration; on-site or off-site. Decisions of these sort must be made individually for each restoration project.
  • Project success is dependent upon long term survival.
  • Measure both abiotic and biotic components of the wetland ecosystem.
