Group Project - First Assignment
Due Date: March 26 (Tuesday)
Now that we have chosen our projects and formed groups, we need to start defining
the problem. Over the weekend, each group should meet and prepare a short proposal
(1-2 pages) that describes the system you will study. The description should
be brief. An annotated outline would be sufficient. The proposal should cover
the following points:
- What system is under study
- What are the major compartments that will be covered by your model. By compartments,
I mean the major sub-models. For example, if you were studying the Alaska
Pipeline, your proposal might include the following major compartments...Wildlife,
Economics, Terrestrial Ecosystems, Energy, Indigenous People, etc. - this is by no means
a definitive list, nor necessarily appropriate, but it shows the level of
thinking for the compartments
- The major stocks within each major compartment - remember, stocks are things
you can count - Wildlife might include a caribou stock, a moose stock, etc.
- The major influences that will affect the major stocks you have outlined
This is by no means a final outline of your study. It is only a starting place.
Be brief. With each part of the outline, you should include a sentence or a
phrase to justify the choice.
Each group will turn in one paper as a group.
