Ethogram Assignment: Hypothesis to Test

Objective

After observing your study animal for many hours, you are ready to come up with an interesting question and propose a hypothesis that you can test. Your assignment is to come up with a question, propose a hypothesis, and write a brief outline of how you will test your hypothesis.

I don't expect you to have your experiment/study all worked out. I expect you to have a question and some preliiminary ideas about what you want to do. You will need to come see me to talk about the details of your study as soon as possible after you turn in this assignment.

For more information, read the "Hypothesis formation and tests" in Ethogram Instructions .

What to submit:

  1. State the question that interests you about your study animal
  2. Propose a hypothesis to answer that question (remember Popper)
  3. A brief outline, or paragraph, explaining your general idea for your experiment/study

NOTE: This doesn't need to be verbose. Much of this is in outline/telegraphic format. I want to see that you have enough of an idea of where you are going so that when you come see me we can talk about how to accomplish your proposed study.
