Neuroscience and
Psychology
-
Introductory Methods in Neuroscience.
The HHMI equipment enabled us to create this new laboratory course for
neuroscience and biopsychology students.
-
Microprocessor-controlled
Operant Chamber. For experiments on live rats.
Students measure the behavioral responses to stimuli such as amphetamines.
Zachary Florin ‘99 studies the
effects of a
stimulant on the behavior of
a rat
-
Biopac Computerized Physiograph.
Students measure electrical signals from human muscle,
skin, and heart rate (EKG). The Galvanic Skin Response (used
in "lie detectors") measures conductivity of skin and sweat glands.
Jill Pitarresi ‘98 and Kirsten
Baumann ‘97 use a Biopac Physiograph
to record and analyze an electromyograph
(EMG) with Assistant Professor
