This
is a complete fracture of the left femur (thigh bone). A callus
has formed to unite the broken ends which created a shorter, but still
functional bone.
The
clavicle (collar bone) shown here has also healed with a callus.
It is possible that over time bone remodeling will return the clavicle
to a more normal appearance.
This
is a tibia (leg bone). Since the fractured ends were not in line
with one another, the new bone formation has caused the medullary cavity
(space that runs down the center of the bone and contains fatty yellow
bone marrow) to narrow.
