It is important to be able to distinguish between injuries that occurred during an individual's death and those that occurred afterward.  This photo is of a fracture pattern that was created by slow, heavy pressure over time (static loading) - most likely a post-mortem injury created by the soil on top of the grave; this skull was recovered from an old cemetery.
