STIPPLING

This photo shows what is known as stippling.  The bullet entrance wound is seen in the middle of the victim's neck and it is surrounded by pinpoint hemorrhages.  These hemorrhages are caused by burned powder and fragments which are driven into the skin as a result of a “close shot”.

This photo is also of stippling.  It has the added benefit, however, of showing the defensive position of the victim when she was shot by her boyfriend; the victim used her hands to try and protect her face.
