Loebner Prize
Home Page

The homepage of the Loebner Prize, an award given annually to the
computer program which qualifies best in the Turing test. It also contains a link
to the Alan Turing Scrapbook
which contains very interesting information about Turing's life and his ideas.

The Outsider's Guide
to AI
|
Pages on Artificial Intelligence by Jorn Barger. Mr. Barger is a sort
of political activist who believes that humans can find the correct and
rational solution to society's problems through the use of an AI technique
called "story representation." This is his (somewhat opinionated) tutorial
of Artificial Intelligence in general. It is part of a greater work called
The Robot Wisdom Pages in which he
fully states and presents his political views and ideology.

CMU
Artificial Intelligence Repository
|
The Artificial Intelligence repository at Carnegie Mellon University.
Contains slightly upper-level information. Lots of information about
symbolic languages such as LISP.

The
Genetic Programming Notebook
|
This site contains more in-depth information on genetic programming, as described
in the Genetic Algorithms section of this project.
|
The
Fractal Music Project
|
A homepage about creating music through fractal art (e.g., the use of recursive mathematical
functions).
|
Bruce
L Jacob: Composing with Genetic Algorithms
|
A very interesting use of genetic algorithms in the field of music composition. The basics
of this project were described in the "Genetic Algorithms" section of this project, and
this site contains more in-depth information.
|
PSYCHE
|
This is a journal on the research of consciousness. It contains information
about the metaphysical and psychological aspects of
consciousness, epistemology, and such topics.

The Live Alife Page
|
This page contains several examples of artificial life which you can experiment with
on-line (similar to the concept of the Lifey applet on this website). You can toy
with a-life programs like Morphs, Planet Wa-Tor, SortNet, Swarm (based on a more well-known
game called Boids), Demons, LIFE (similar to the Lifey applet), CA, Forest Fire, and
Bots.

The Tierra Homepage
|
The Tierra homepage. Tierra is a kind of artificial life software described in the
Artificial Life section of this project. Here you can download the source code to Tierra,
and if you have a C compiler for DOS, UNIX, Mac, VMS, or Amiga you can compile and run
the program! (Tom Ray, the creator of Tierra, expressly forbids executables
of Tierra from being publicly distributed, thus to run it one must get the source and
compile it)
