Shaggy
Deer
Shaggy deer usually stand about five
to seven feet tall. The deer only eat the plants on planet Altoid. The
pedators of the deer are beatles but mainly the bears. The deer have evolved
to have longer and shaggier hair in order to avoid being eaten by the Aligatorsnakes.
If the Aligatorsnakes tried to eat a shaggy deer the hair would get stuck
in the throat of the snake and choke it to death, as snakes swallow their
prey more often than chew it. The niche that the deer inhabit is a pretty
simple one that involves little more that grazing all day long and being
eaten by bears or beatles. The deer's family is a matriarchal family which
travel in herds. The male is usualy the smaller deer. Shaggy deer families
usualy have no more than two offspring at a time and the four deer travel
togeter for the first two or three years of the fawn's life. The deer are
very easy prey for the bears because they are bulky and slow due to all
the grazeing they do and because they are so inactive. The deer, like mose
grazing or herd animals, are also very dumb and have poor senses.
If shagggy deer were to become extinct
bears would lose one of their main food sources. Bears would have a hard
time eating just small rodents because they are fast and bears would have
to eat many of them to give them the nutrients that a deer would. The plant
population would grow and might not be able to adjust to a total lack of
preadators. The plants might become too lush and numerous resulting in
a depletion of nutriens in the soil. Shaggy deer occasionaly eat Carnivorous
plants and help propagate them. The deer is not as helpfull in propagating
them as rodents because the pregnant deer does not live long enought to
pass the killer plant cells to its children because the gestation period
of the deer is 11 months and the parent will die first. The loss of the
deer would mean that the plants have one less species to grow from.
